So far, most politicians, journalists and civil society organizations have proven him right, hemming and hawing about having to "maintain a presence" and "make our case" or similar such rubbish, legitimizing the platform with their continued presence.

This guy gave up a VP position in Saudi Arabia to, eventually, direct pedestrians to subway cars in Toronto. He scrapes by after investing his Saudi wealth into Toronto real estate, because he can't find a job.

43 years ago today, I started my 26 year career in the USAF. I started Basic Military Training, Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX. When you get off the bus, the Training Instructors yell “Pick um up!, put um down!” We had to pick up & put down our suitcases in unison. Nobody explained that to us before hand. Thanks recruiters. We got our heads shaved & picked up our uniforms in the next few days. There were 48 guys in my flight. We stayed in new RH&T dorms instead of wooden barracks.

..man it's hard to not say "we told you so"..

I'm part of a twin city exchange association and the resignedness on the UK side when it comes to lack of Erasmus structures or of a perspective when the start of a rejoining campaign might make any sense politically in the next decades is hard to watch.

I'm among those 1.225 million EU people.
...and it's enormously sad to see the Independent implying that me moving away was a loss for Britain but that anyone else moving in was also a loss for Britain.

*That assumption is one of the root causes for Brexit*, and was a big factor for me in deciding to leave, and even this anti-Brexit paper is still hanging on to it!

With one star’s end, hundreds of others began- including the one that gives us all life and warmth. The star whose supernova triggered the formation of the Solar System is estimated to have been at least 30 solar masses- probably enough mass to make an initial neutron star that then became a black hole. There is much uncertainty about the sun’s parent star, but it inspired this sketch on my phone.

@bob capitalism *claims* innovations that would have happened with or without it, just like Steve Jobs or Elon Musk claiming genius for things their wage servants created for them with no share in the profits and no credit. In fact it's not "just like", these are concrete examples of how this process works: there is no "capitalism" but capitalists, when we say capitalism does this or that, it's capital owners choosing to do this or that.
