@DabonSteed @Dss Yeah my parents were actually pretty into that. We listened to Nowell Sing We Clear, which had songs about celebrating "Old Christmas," on Jan. 6, in both the Old World and the New. We traditionally put our tree up only a few days before Christmas, and decorated it on the 24th. Then we would keep it up for most of January. Which makes sense to me because November and December have holidays but January is so long and empty.

Even though the rain and snow they have been predicting for tonight didn't materialize so far, it's still getting cold and may get down to freezing. If this camp weren't here, these people would be left 20 miles out in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do but keep walking to stay warm.

That's why the Forest Service talking about shutting down this camp and the border patrol closing the road are cruel and stupid ideas.

I'm sure there will be very visible, dramatic and gratuitously cruel steps the administration will take against migrants. But people could freeze to death out here in the winter or die of heat stroke in the summer out of sight and out of mind. There's just so much we never see that happens because of shitty policies.

A woman from VeraCruz with her daughter, a man with his young son, and two brothers from Oaxaca. The two brothers are who I mostly speak with because they seem patient with my broken Spanish. They are fleeing crime there. They are going to South Carolina to find their mother, who is there. The woman and her daughter are going to Tennessee. They are unsure where we are now, so I pull up a map on my phone and show them.

The best I can do is make sure they have food and water, know where the porta potties are and know that the border patrol will come at about 1 AM and they will need to get up quickly.

From what I'm hearing, these people will probably be deported back to Mexico tomorrow, probably Nogales. It's so hard to be wishing them welcome and good luck, knowing what is probably going to happen to them.

I am back out at the migrant aid camp at the end of the border wall, 20 miles east of Sasabe, Arizona.
I got here a little bit ago but there is no one here. Kindled up the fire to heat a burrito I brought.

Border Patrol just drove out here to do their 8 PM pick up, but no asylum-seekers in camp. They'll come back at about 2 AM. They said it's been busier than normal lately, so I'll probably stay up a while and see if anyone shows up.

There has been a lot of talk of the Forest Service shutting down this camp and the border patrol closing the road to public access, so I want to take advantage of the next couple weeks and get as many photos and interviews with asylum-seekers as I can.

There is a solar powered satellite Internet set up here for everyone to use, which is why I can post from way out here.

This camp is maintained by at least four groups: Tucson Samaritans, Green Valley Samaritans, No More Deaths and Humane Borders.

The Samaritan groups usually come out around dawn and then a second group will come out late morning or or so. If any asylum seekers show up tonight I'll be the only one here. I don't intend to stay up all night, but if someone shows up while I'm awake I can direct them to where the food is And give them basic information like telling them to wait here until 2 AM for the border patrol.

It seems the cartel guides that bring them to the border don't really give them a ton of information. It seems weird because they know the camp is here for migrants and they can see it right through the fence.

I propose we do "Winter" decorations instead of "Holiday Season"
As it gets colder we start decorating and putting up pretty lights and all this stuff that counteracts the gloom of winter.
Then we take it all down right before the coldest, darkest, SHITTIEST part of winter kicks in.
Seeing my neighbor's lights still up, is just a little bit of color and cheer now that the temperatures are in the single digits. Even my snarky self needs that from time to time.

If you're an Apple user and I spoof your phone number in a call to the legitimate Apple Customer Support line (800-275-2273), I can force Apple to send you a system level "Apple Account Confirmation" prompt to all of your signed-in devices.

This approach is commonly used by a prolific voice phishing group to convince targets they really are in a support call with an Apple representative.

Today's deep dive into this weird world was made possible in part by a series of live phishing videos, tutorials and other secrets shared by an insider that show in unprecedented detail how these voice phishing scams can be so convincing.

Please share this story widely, because I learned a ton reporting this and frankly the various methods used by these groups to dox and target people are really slick.
