A woman from VeraCruz with her daughter, a man with his young son, and two brothers from Oaxaca. The two brothers are who I mostly speak with because they seem patient with my broken Spanish. They are fleeing crime there. They are going to South Carolina to find their mother, who is there. The woman and her daughter are going to Tennessee. They are unsure where we are now, so I pull up a map on my phone and show them.
The best I can do is make sure they have food and water, know where the porta potties are and know that the border patrol will come at about 1 AM and they will need to get up quickly.
From what I'm hearing, these people will probably be deported back to Mexico tomorrow, probably Nogales. It's so hard to be wishing them welcome and good luck, knowing what is probably going to happen to them.
