@deewani @ai6yr @VirginiaHolloway @exador23 You're right. I still don't have my head fully wrapped around the reality of so many households' lives uprooted so suddenly and so completely. And this is an expensive area to live with a housing shortage already, so the situation for both short and long-term housing for so many people reminds me of the situation after Hurricane Katrina.

And of course this will have a ripple effect on those who didn't lose their homes as well. None of those people who lost their homes will need landscapers or housekeepers, and those cars that were burned up won't need oil changes, and when an employer moves away because their house or business burned down they're not going take their employees with them.

@ai6yr @VirginiaHolloway @deewani @exador23 Not to mention all of the historic mansions and homes that can never be rebuilt because they wouldn't be the same historic buildings.
@jhamby @ai6yr @VirginiaHolloway @exador23 All kinds of families lived there. Those with young kids - 3-5 years of rebuilding is a long time in those young lives… they are likely to permanently relocate. A grand re-shuffling of the population like Covid.

From the hiking trail, which goes up to a pretty high elevation, you can see all of the expensive houses with the tennis courts and giant pools and all that stuff, and now I'm trying to visualize what % of those houses, big and regular size, all along the hillsides, are now gone. It's so sad.

I've been to the Lake Shrine Temple in the Palisades that Yogananda set up in the 1940's, which is absolutely beautiful, and now I wonder what's left of the buildings and greenery and trees. I'm hoping that it escaped the worst of the fire since it's up on a hill, and based on the maps I was looking at, it seems possible.
I've also been hiking on the Los Leones Trail that's nearby (off Sunset Dr) so it's going to be strange the next time I'm able to hike there again.

To this day, Windows doesn't want you to create files with names like NUL or LPT1. Here's the list:
"CON, PRN, AUX, NUL, COM0, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, COM5, COM6, COM7, COM8, COM9, COM¹, COM², COM³, LPT0, LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, LPT4, LPT5, LPT6, LPT7, LPT8, LPT9, LPT¹, LPT², and LPT³"
From PowerShell or CMD, I can't create LPT1 with ">", but I can rename to LPT1. Then I can't type, rename, or delete "LPT1". It shows up in a dir listing. And I can see and rename it from the Explorer.
