I've shared this article yesterday, but I want to highlight this part:

'Meta has more than 3 billion users globally. In a wide-ranging statement, Zuckerberg said Meta would also “get rid of a bunch of restrictions on topics like immigration and gender that are just out of touch with mainstream discourse” and “work with President Trump to push back on governments around the world that are going after American companies and pushing to censor more”.

He cited Europe as a place with “an ever increasing number of laws institutionalising censorship and making it difficult to build anything innovative”'

This is an explicit threat to the . Zuckerberg has fallen in line behind and the incoming administration in order to promote around the world to a degree we haven't seen before. If you think that the situation is already bad - and it is - then you will nevertheless see that it _will_ get much worse.

I’m perfectly willing to believe Brisbane has the worst traffic congestion in Australia. It goes along with having the shittiest public transport network (especially one that is over-dependent on buses – see traffic).

@mekkaokereke Just about every non-obvious improvement to Mastodon or ActivityPub would seem to carry an additional trust requirement, either implicit or explicit.

One of the great joys of the current protocol is anyone with a little motivation can spin up an instance. The only gates are a DNS entry and some sort of compute and an internet connection.

Much more and things start to require trust relationships between servers which crushes out the little guy.

It is the actions of the masses that gives power to the fascists like Trump, Zuke or Musk to have control over our world.

But with your selective moral compass, you do what makes you comfortable and feel good that you are actually DOING something to stop the genocide.

It is a sick and sad reality of the people who focus on plastic straw with passion while ignoring the real issues and problems.

But, enjoy your fight and cry hard when accounts get suspended and blocked one by one.
