@ai6yr Sounds like leaving was the right choice and having the freedom to do things how you want on Mastodon will be a relief for you.
@armerpunkt It was the only option at the moment. They may change, but it was absolutely the right thing to do. I lost a lot of sleep on that. The downside is I just don't have the audience on Mastodon. But, considering they weren't letting me post anyway 🤔
@ai6yr and I wanted to I add that you are such a valuable resource for this community. I really appreciate all the work you’ve done to keep us safe and informed.
@ai6yr What?!?! That’s so stupid. Did that change recently? I could’ve sworn I saw reports credited to you for the Mountain Fire. And was wondering why I didn’t see anything from you on the Kenneth fire.

@armerpunkt Correct, this is why I left. The way I ran the Mountain Fire is against the way Watch Duty is running right now (consensus/committee posting, approved by a "Staff Reporter"). I attempted to try to bring that reporting speed to the wildfires here in Los Angeles the last few days and was told in no uncertain terms I was not to do that (despite all the kudos received for how I ran Mountain, and also how Michael and I ran Franklin). It was clear to me at that point I had to leave. I was asked to stand down on Kenneth for arguing for faster updates, which was the last straw for my leaving. That said, they do mean well, and I recommend them still.
@ai6yr I used a similar one of these to run a TV for a while (could still pull in KCBS, KNBC, KCAL, and KTTV even without my preamp). It reported it would get 2.5 hours of run time through the AC (though I didn’t run it that long to confirm). I’ll have to see if I can find a way to power directly over DC next time, but it’s a Sony with a non-barrel jack conector (and my other TV doesn’t have an external power brick).

@ai6yr Yeah it’s unfortunate Twitter was ruined. Hopefully the number of people on Mastodon will continue to grow.

@ai6yr my power just went back on about 10 mins ago. Wouldn’t be surprised if it goes off again once the winds start back up, though.
