@ai6yr Ben, sorry to bug, do we know how fast the palisades fire is moving towards Saddle Peak Lodge & Monte Nido? I’m watching painfully as 2 homes I greet up in are there. 😔😢

In response to this post@ai6yr @ai6yr Gah! I’m sick for the first time since the before times. It’s definitely a contagion. Got it from my teen who COUGHED IN MY FACE! (I’m on biologic immunosuppressants)🤬 Not Covid. No fever. No sore throat. No aches & pains. Only some malaise, congestion, slight cough, body fatigue. Seems to last about 5-7 days.

In response to this post@ai6yr Yes. Watching everything closely. 😔 We’re stranded with no car in Lockwood Valley, & we lose all communication when the power goes, so I’m hyper vigilant of anything north of 126. At least the schools up here are closed due to the outages.

@DEDGirl @justyourluck Well, I think the comment about companies adding EXTRA scent to their products due to so many people losing their sense of smell due to COVID must be it. Which is awful for those of us who can smell. (I can track people who went by on a hiking trail an hour ago... smell people's laundry sheets from a mile away... etc.... which apparently is unusual. Either that, or i am part canine now 🤪 ).

@DEDGirl @justyourluck It makes no sense to me that you have a product which a lot of people like and you arbitrarily change it to a scent everyone hates. (Although it's MORE scent, I doused the bottle I had with the fragrance of coffee, which apparently is made out of coffee)

In response to this post@ai6yr @justyourluck That’s concerning. Their whole thing is they are used on wildlife rescue in oil spills. A terrible fragrance won’t be very good for that purpose for sure. 🤨

That's what I was thinking last time I smelled/used it! Those poor animals. And I don't know if they've changed the formula but it doesn't seem to be as good at cleaning oil as I remember.

@DEDGirl @justyourluck The new "Dawn" smell is horrible... unfortunately the only way to counter it is to dose it with another scent to mask the terrible one.

In response to this post@ai6yr @justyourluck agh! Yep! I’m so sorry. My daughter also caught Covid from school. 😖 I hate it! Triggered her POTS, which she was already genetically pre-disposed to with our connective tissue disorder. I worry so much about the clotting aspect of it.

In response to this post@ai6yr @justyourluck It’s just so easy & cheap to stay protected. I haven’t had Covid, i haven’t gotten sick, & I’m on immunosuppressants. 🙌 I went to a Walmart Supercenter & my mask broke as i was putting it on. 😰 On my way to the mask aisle, i was horrified that i could smell people! 😂 I haven’t smelled other people in 5 years!! It was kind of alarming. I’ll wear one for the forseeable future no doubt.
@DEDGirl @justyourluck LOL I already had really good ability to smell before the pandemic, it's improved not inhaling cologne and perfume. The other day I was trying to locate a funky smell in the house, and asked my daughter (home from school for a week) if she smelled anything funny, and she said: "oh, I can't smell anything very well anymore since COVID" (one of her bouts... in school during the pandemic 😢 ).

In response to this post@justyourluck @ai6yr gah! I still wear my N95 everywhere. The guy I rent from refuses to be seen with me out of sheer mortification, & harasses me about wearing it. Our mutual best friend of 30 years died from Covid in 2020, but he thinks the hospital killed him by putting him on a ventilator! Every time he says shit to me i tell him I havent been sick since the before times & I’ll be wearing it FOREVER!!! It’s sheer insanity! I don’t understand to be quite frank.
@DEDGirl @justyourluck I was in hybrid masking mode up until two weeks ago, when my son started talking about the hospitals being overwhelmed here. I'd mask at any store, at the library, but if it was a small store (ie proprietor and I'm the only customer, doors open) I was more lax. Now... N95 everywhere indoors/crowds. (outdoor away from people, no masking). I have to teach a class next week, and I was considering -- oh, only a small class -- but after hearing about the ER overload, N95 it is again.
