Semi-retired renewable energy and M&A strategist, former software nerd based near Naarm (aka Melbourne) AU.
My professional opinions are 80% at odds with the consensus (and with the benefit of hindsight, turn out to be prescient), and 20% are in alignment (and with the benefit of being able to spot the obvious, they also turn out to be correct). #ClimateChange #Energy

@NanoRaptor I don't know if you would consider using a windows machine, but I don't know (but would like to assume) if Macs do the same:
For an indexed folder (e.g. Documents, but really anywhere you've told the indexer to index contents), it is
a) remarkably good and fast at finding contents of PDFs, and if you want to save that list for later (rather than just search again)
b) you can pin the search to quick access.
c) once pinned (I can't work out how to do it without the interim step of pinning to quick access - but that's because I'm lazy) you can save the search (effectively as a shortcut) - effectively that's your note
So, you can have a search for "*.pdf angle structure dromaeosaur"
Here's an example where I had a quick glance at PDFs in my documents folder, saw one that I imagined had shane warne inside it, and ran the search and pinned it:
From there, I saved it, and it is there as my shortcut:

@mattblaze you wouldn't have had to apply for the US equivalent - an ESTA - not only does it cost more, take longer, but has spawned an entire industry of rip off sites that may of may not apply on your behalf because the official process is so arcane.
No, it doesn't currently require biometrics, but it does ask for social media accounts.
Make of that what you will.

@mattblaze Note: NTA
Also note for anyone else following along: this is little different (less, in many cases) to what you give up at the border but saves you the trouble of spending money on the airfare and being refused entry, by making it less likely to be refused entry when you arrive.
US - fingerprints and facial recognition.
Most of EU (probably all - I just haven't travelled to all) - facial recognition.
AU - facial recognition - which is brilliant for entering and exiting very quickly.
Own a passport issued in the last decade? PSA - you've already provided facial recognition data which is shared worldwide when you enter or exit most ports.
