@mattblaze you wouldn't have had to apply for the US equivalent - an ESTA - not only does it cost more, take longer, but has spawned an entire industry of rip off sites that may of may not apply on your behalf because the official process is so arcane.

No, it doesn't currently require biometrics, but it does ask for social media accounts.
