In response to this post@stux for me the Fediverse works almost like Facebook worked in 2010. I sign up at a server, I follow people, I see their posts. Additionally hashtags (topics) exist here that can be searched and followed.
At that time I was new in my class. Classmates asked if I had Facebook. They created my first email address, made friend requests to 70 pupils in my year, they approved and we saw each others posts.
In 2015 I deleted the account because of a significant terms of service update.
