@malachi17RV @ai6yr As I understand it, the Mt. Mitchell repeater has government support.

@ai6yr …who keeps receipts for that?

@TonyYarusso @ai6yr
The local food co-op emails receipts if you set up your account to do that. I have them going back to when I joined.

@ai6yr It adds some cost, but one nice thing about sticking to Group 24/27/31 stuff is you can put them in marine trolling motor portable battery boxes with handles to more easily grab one and go for mobile/portable deployment.

@TonyYarusso Thanks! I actually have 3 of those portable battery boxes in my backyard. Don't fit the bigger batteries as you mention. Weight of any lead acid is a big concern, was going to put this new system (if I build it) on a cart. The idea here is to use the roof power/emergency power from the inverter to charge up a BIG battery bank for 24/7 operations here.

@ai6yr My new Internet service uses terminal equipment that takes 12V, so at some point I’m totally going to run a long zip cord from that over to the side of the house with radio gear instead of the wall wart.

@ai6yr @toroidalcore I wonder if this is similar to the “floating neutral” problem that makes RV surge protectors trip when hooked up to generators. You need a little adapter for that.
