Altadena Wildfires

Benjamin Hamlington
Research Scientist NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Team Lead of NASA Sea Level Change Team

"My house in Altadena burned down in the wildfires on Wednesday. It all happened quickly. On Tuesday around 7pm, my wife and girls went to a hotel as a precaution. I left the house with the dogs when the mandatory evacuation order came in around 3am. As best as I can put the timeline together, our home burned down around the same time that the sun came up..."

@ai6yr
My heart goes out. We walked away from our Oregon home a few years ago on no notice, not knowing if anything we owned would survive. The fire was stopped a few miles short of our home and we were able to return a few days later, but several neighborhoods in our small town, and in surrounding areas, weren't so lucky. I know people rendered homeless, and we (the town) are still recovering. It doesn't end with the headlines.
