In response to this post@april@macaw.social I'm assuming this is referring VLC? So we are talking about AI in general not just generative AI, right? I'd say it completely depends on the product.
Routing in Google Maps? Yes please.
A chess program with a chess AI? Would be better, yes.
Automatic real-time transcription for videos without subtitles? Makes sense.
A function that rewrites my emails to be more wordy? Meh, maybe not.
Semantic search of automatic desktop screenshots? I don't even understand the product.

AI is pretty much synonymous with Gen ai / llm at this point.
The good kind is still called machine learning, afaik.
