Professionally, I help to build and run #trains with software and IT stuff.

In 2023, let's shut up and listen. (Update: in 2024, too)
Let's make space for other groups to build our shared spaces, on the Fedi and IRL.
Let's trust that when a space works well for BIPOC, for LGBTQ+, for women, then it'll also work well for us.
We've had the mic for long enough. Let the others have a turn at making the decisions.

A quick bit of advice if you´re writing anything that other people are meant to read and understand:
1. Decide which points you want to make.
2. Use simple words and short sentences.
3. Use active voice, to make clear who does what.
Congratulations, your writing is now 80% better.

I’m this middle-aged dad from Germany. I have a wonderful partner, 4 kids and a cat.
I care about society and technology. A retired #FOSS activist, these days I work at a globocorp doing IT stuff for trains 🚄
My interests include baking #bread, #fermenting stuff, paddling a whitewater #kayak, n00bing around with #Python, #RaspberryPi and #arduino, and oh so many books.
There’s never enough time, and I haven’t been bored in more than a decade.

In response to this post@Gargron I can only imagine how difficult this must be on an emotional level. But I believe it’s the right move.
Founding a project, and driving it to a certain level of success, takes one set of skills.
Transforming it into an institution that can function independently of its founder requires quite another set of skills. Few people can do both.
Much respect for finding the strength to let go; and for putting your health and wellbeing first.
