In response to this post@ai6yr it's still an important job, mind you. But normally instead of a dedicated crew member, it's usually done by the “snacktician”. They work alongside the tactician to (among other things) make sure the crudites don't get upset by maneuvering.

In response to this post@ai6yr A common slang term for a winch on a sailboat is a “coffee grinder” due to the similar operation (crank on top). I like to joke that my boat's old school enough that the only coffee grinder is the one that actually grinds coffee!
