@NanoRaptor It used to be the time was set to be too recent. Might try that, but because it’s booting from the internet it grabs NTP. Probably works if I make a USB installer.

Computers, aagh! Apple not letting be download OS X Lion via Internet Recovery Boot. It’s only 14 years old!!!!
@nygl I had this! And it was something simple. But I can’t for the life of me remember why or the fix.

@NanoRaptor I worked at an Apple reseller from 1988-1998 so had *all* of the things (trades or cost-price or broken/fixed). So much fun. Quadra 605 (proper 040) was definitely a good one.
Far out they had some horrors in that period as well. Anything with stupid bus limitations or weird multipliers (mostly 601 and 603). And the 7220…
My main computer is *still* a 2009 Mac Pro (with a few upgrades). Fast as I need - and good enough for World of Warcraft.

And then I thought about the grooviest Macintosh I had.
Hands down it was a PowerBook Duo 270 (280?) with a PowerPC 603e upgrade. I also had the full DuoDock Plus with an extra hard drive, floppy drive, 13-inch Trinitron. Also had the MicroDock with a floppy drive.
What a groovy computer, just slot it in like a video cassette. So cool. And run it on battery for about an hour. Can’t remember the official runtime.

I like this idea. I have so many something-ish macs.
