In response to this post@ai6yr @orci Now I have a Chinese Reliable brand sine wave inverter and it is quite clean. I've looked at the waveform on a scope and also run a home theater amplifier and TV off it. No noise problem. Get LiFePo4 batteries, they are very robust.
But if you want an engine driven generator, the Honda are the high-end and the Predator etc. are imitators. Propane keeps indefinitely unlike gasoline, and the less expensive Hondas seem to be gasoline only.
@mike805 @orci The Hondas all have good conversion kits. Hutch Mountain is highly spoken of, I have a tri-fuel on a Honda there. That said, you can't buy a new Honda generator in California anymore, I think they do not meet requirements for sale anymore due to emissions.

In response to this post@orci @ai6yr The movie industry uses the Honda inverter generators when they need small amounts of power. There are a lot of Chinese imitations but the real ones must be more reliable.
@mike805 @orci The radio folks swear by Honda, they do not put out RF noise and are extremely clean waveforms.
