I've done the Twitter leaving thing (still got my account to 👀, after deleting the old one) a while ago. I've spent many months cross-posting here + Bluesky + Mastodon. Recent days have encouraged me to focus on
@bsky.app. The community, App, timeline, content & engagement are best there for me at this moment.🤷
BUT, I'll keep posting original content here as well because I owe you guys for being the first place I moved to. But you are a quiet bunch! 😁

Just a reminder as we all try to build networks here that contain useful, trustworthy and factual info (and cats).
Favouriting (=liking on bird site) content is great for telling me you like it, but **boosting **content (=re-tweeting on the bird site) gets it out there to everyone who follows you.
**This **is how we build new networks.
And we need to do that because mis- and disinformers are better at this than us.

Hi all,
I'm a scientist in Queensland, Australia. I spent 20-years in virus research/diagnostic development following MedLabSci degree. PhD in virology next. Research grants in discovery, detection & characterisation of respiratory viruses. Published (see ORCID in bio). Started blogging/tweeting hobby. Then spent 5 years in public health virology diagnostics. Fun work. 2021 to now, ran testing lab (ends soon). What's next for Ian🤷?
