Hi there!
You'll get a little bit of everything me here, from EE, science, maths, & web dev, to daily life musings & commiserations to IRL kink to horny character & worldbuilding ideas.
I'm an abyssal rubber goo thing whose identity is subject to change on Observation, but my most probable eigenstate is a fingendered dragon girl toy. Get handsy with me. I'm tactile. <3
I can't promise infallible use of CW's here. #ADHD #ActuallyAutistic

@gsuberland So the EFF shoved their entire leg below the knee into their proverbial mouth again.
Again.
Why does this keep happening and why do they never fucking learn? -_-

@gsuberland Dunno. I don't plan on using this cable with anything else. It's pretty application-specific to these older Huion tablets.

@gsuberland Huion definitely used a VERY custom and non-standard implementation of the Mini HDMI interface with their older tablets then, because the wall wart to power the one I got is rated for 1A@12V out which WEEEELLLLLL exceeds the quarter-watt of the HDMI spec. :D

The specific information that I was looking for was whether or not HDMI also supported some degree of power delivery and how much power it could support, since that appears to be how Huion is powering their older generation display tablets considering the Kamvas Pro 16 V2 that I got delivers video and power in and digitizer data out via a Mini HDMI interface.
This seems like the kind of weird question @gsuberland would have an answer to... 🤔

Tonight I was skimming the HDMI wiki article for some different information (that I couldn't find, tyvm wikipedia...) and I found out that *digital* video protocols in general do not support closed captions. This includes DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort.
Closed captions are specifically an analog video signal thing. Digital video uses open captions (captions decoded by the source and injected into the video stream, not by the receiver).

@gsuberland Ugh, god. I hate hate hate DHL. They're such money griftng scumbags. Every time I've had a package delivered by them from a vendor that uses them, shipping has somehow always cost as much as the item to be deliverd.
