In the spirit of I know now isn't the time.....it makes me grumpy that LA, Phoenix, and LV were all built in deserts. The Titanic is a reminder that the can't happen does happen.

Will it stop at some of the big freeways? Is there a natural stop, like a river? I've never been to LA. Disneyland, but not LA.
@amyedge @czarbucks @firefly @AE4WX @ai6yr @Jennifer Depends on the fire. A 8-12 lane freeway or a flowing river can help contain a fire, but if the winds are howling embers will just fly over them and start fires on the other side.

How do they stop a fire like the one in LA?

I am still cruddy. Better, but cruddy. Apparently, it snowed just north of where I live because all of the schools are closed. Anyway, I'm upright and drinking some hot coffee/chocolate mix. If I can get past this today, I might be ready for the work force tomorrow.

I grew up in a household where my mother cooked Horry County, SC food. That county, in particular, was isolated until WW 2. I've only found out later in life that I was eating a special local cuisine. Restaurants in Charleston now charge a lot for what I grew up on.

There are places on the NC coast that were very isolated until WW 2. Some customs and speech patterns from the Old Country (Elizabethian Britian) remain.
