I have just watched the 1st episode of A Kind of Spark thanks to @PetitPas

It’s a Irish British American Canadian series.

- Canada on CBC Gem
- in the UK it seems to be on the CBBC channel + BBC iplayer,
- in the US www.byutv.org/a-kind-of-spark

I like it because the 3 autistic sisters are played by autistic actors, use of the words autistic, masking, meltdown. etc. Shows sensory overload, etc., ignorance and bias.

To watch it in Canada gem.cbc.ca/a-kind-of-spark

@Caroline Some ideas especially for and , I’m , I know nothing about other neurodivergence.

- stop assume that we’re all the same
- ask us which vocabulary we prefer if you are not sure
- we don’t grow out of our autism
- autism is not an illness, neither ADHD
- let us use our stim toys, cancelling headphones, etc. without judgment
- allow us to stim freely no matter how we stim
- not only white men can be autistic
- never say you don’t look autistic
- etc.

"Knowing your brain can be one of the most validating things. It gives us insight into our experiences as a neurodivergent person.

The things we get called, and the things we think about ourselves really shape our self image, especially when growing up.

'Disorganised'? or 'messy'? Actually, it's that I struggled to access my executive functioning skills, especially when overloaded."
