@ai6yr Interesting; there are constant false alarms at this location since natural gas is flared off there frequently. Trying to see what I can find out.

@W6KME Overpressure situation corrected, and no risk. The flaring stack was inoperational, thus the risk of explosion.

@ai6yr I have learned more about short-term and mid-term plans for this repeater, and the power flaw is being addressed.

There are alternate repeaters with power backup thankfully, but it's definitely an odd situation with our main local. The main County repeater is battery+solar.

What has been good is how the local hams have been able to adapt to simplex nets. The weekly emcomm drill had as many checkins this week on simplex as we usually have with the repeater, with good relay performance.

@ai6yr Have you ever felt *relief* that we were entering a Red Flag condition? Surreal.

Another shot from my wife, this taken from the 10/405 interchange (no, she isn't driving) at about 4:55pm

@ai6yr A quick shout to Coulson and Columbia Helicopters...their Chinook conversion carries the same paylod as the Air National Guard's MAFFS C-130s, 3000 gallons of retardant or water. That's nearly twice what the Canadair CL-415s can haul. Incredible things.

Live footage on KTLA5 showing a dozer pushing cars off the road. So yeah, leaving the keys in is a better option.

@ai6yr He grabbed the reporter a couple of hours ago to plead with people to leave their keys in their cars if they abandon them. This was a few minutes before the reporter had to, um, aggressively reposition.

@ai6yr other than his claim that it's actually easy to stay behind and defend your home by putting out small fires before they catch. Pretty insane advice.

@ai6yr KTLA5 has been broadcasting from that location. I am very surprised their crew hasn't been told to get out of there; a lot of flame.
