@lucy_idk due to financialization, literally billions of people in the global labor force are surpless to capital's requirements. There is not going to come a point when states fight climate catastrophe to protect capital BEFORE billions of people die. That's why states, owned and operated BY capital, are hardening borders, building security forces, and curtailing civil rights to protect capital, by force.

I could have lived without the two replies "explaining" things to me, wrong.

@lucy_idk " don't think the capitalists are trying to kill me, they are trying to use me. and if I die, that is no reason to stop it, unless it reduces profit." - this is a meaningless distinction; when you know that continuing to do capitalism on a boiling planet will kill billions, and you do it anyway, you're "killing billions for money."

The rest of your reply treats states as a separate entity from capital, when capital OWNS states, and ignores buildup of security states to DEFEND capital.

I'm evacuating from the , which has blown up quickly. It hadn't even started when I got home from work, but I had to evacuate before bedtime. It's a good reminder to have a plan for what to do in an emergency.

While I'm at it...
That's the supposedly mainstream CSU over here, putting up essentially the same campaign ads revolving around immigrant pushbacks in 2025 that the clearly fascist NPD was running with in 2016, so if you still had hopes for Germany to hold - just scrap 'em, because we're falling fast already:

@GNUmatic I once had it carrying over three screens; if you just keep opening them and don't switch back and forth too much your computer can work miracles. But uhh, it's vexing.

@CosmickTrigger I dunno what I was expecting when I clicked play; but this is honestly really good. You're right I really like the guitar - but honestly I liked pretty much all of it. Happily retweeted it; it's excellent.

Me: "Do I really need this open year-old Reuters browser tab about the US government purposely conducting a psy-op to promote anti-vax ideology in China as part of a concerted effort to undermine a competing product for US pharma corporations and further US global hegemony?"

Logical brain: "No."

Emotional brain: "Okay but what if some flag-humping weirdo comes into your repl..."

@ireneista I'm... not entirely convinced; but also given that he's a nazi, everyone around him are nazis, and these folks are clearly about helping other nazis get into power across the globe, I can't entirely dismiss it either. It's never a good idea to assume nazis are joking.

Again, the more you KNOW about American history, the more absurd the idea that Trump being elected represents an aberration in American politics becomes; but at a very minimum it insults my intelligence to watch highly-paid propaganda mouthpieces who've spent years humping Reagan's dead corpse pretend they're utterly baffled this could happen given the sheer number of similarities between that dipshit and Trump.

The idea that there is something exceptional or bewildering about the United States electing an unhinged embarrassing fascist as president only holds water if you ignore AT LEAST every waking moment of American history since the start of the Cold War.

And I'm being generous with that timeline here.

The difference between Barry Goldwater, Richard Nixon, Ronny Reagan and Donald Trump more or less comes down to personal style and the American commitment to pretend. The only reason "Very Important PeopleTM" in the mainstream discourse have to pretend to be surprised by Trump is that collectively the American establishment has been entirely complicit in creating the political and propaganda conditions necessary to end up at a place where Trump is president, again.
