Maria Giulia Alemanno. Yemayá Asesu, contemporary art (n.d.). Alemanno is a Turin-based Italian magical-realist painter working in Cuba with Santería since at least 2003. I found this #painting while researching my novel. Like Santería itself her art is a complicated blend of many continents, cultures, and ideas. I wonder if my deep attraction to this painting is in part because the artist and I both approach Santería from a shared European perspective. https://www.mariagiulia-alemanno.com/

My friends keep suggesting I put my art out there more, so here's an attempt at something vulnerable. Anyone who knows me at all knows how much Twin Peaks has meant to me since I saw it at 18 years old. I watched The Return every Sunday with a group of friends while it aired. I will miss the genius of David Lynch's art for the rest of my days. A celebrity passing hasn't affected me like this since Daniel Johnston in 2019. Wishing you peace, Mr. Lynch.
