FWIW: anyone saying it was a "Roman salute" is calling it a Nazi salute by another name; they might not know it, but this is a bad time to be that ignorant. It was never a Roman salute. It was a fascist salute the Nazis adopted, and the fascists did it because they misinterpreted an image in a French painting of an ancient Roman story as historically accurate.

5 years ago I argued with a zionist that Gaza is genocide. He refused to believe that Israeli soldiers shot doctors without borders and journalists. I was wrong & he was right. "It's complicated. You wouldn't understand."
Well, Israeli war crimes are now well documented & Gaza is rubble. He is still a Zionist.

Musk's reaction to Wikipedia calling it a Nazi salute is all you need to know.
If it had been an innocent mistake he would simply have apologised for it and moved on.
