@ChrisMayLA6 Yes, I teach. And when schools are closed, or there are no courses for me to teach, there's no working hours except for the ones I set for myself.

The same goes for my business partners. So most of us combine teaching with other more business oriented projects and consulting gigs, and in my case, internal and external business development for me and on behalf of my technical colleagues.

aha, a portfolio career as we would call it over here; loads of part-time academic staff (and they are a growing proportion) do exactly this; it was always a common model in further education - I'm currently taking a plastering course, and the tutor is a plasterer who balances off the trenching with a range of plastering jobs - my impression is the teaching, while not brilliantly paid does mean he can pick & choose the jobs he takes

@ChrisMayLA6 Yes, exactly how it works for me!

I find that it is a great solution, because it makes sure that the teacher bounces between the class room and the office, and that the student then benefit from current and developing knowledge.

I think this is one thing the vocational schools I work with and the vocational system has gotten right!
