@ai6yr its definitely not micro inverters. its 'power optimizers', which appear to function as basically capacitors. when the panels get shaded or there are clouds, they just dump the juice they stored into the line. i THINK its setup as a string? in the solaredge monitoring page, it says its all just one huge string

@Viss Ah, yeah, string. You need either room in the SolarEdge inverter for more panels (or swap in bigger panels), or another input for more voltage. Many inverters allow for multiple strings nowadays. But, running line safely to the inverter is non-trivial (need conduit/etc.)


@ai6yr i definitely have room its a 10k inverter, and its got room for either one or two more 'strings'. I just need to get the panels, make sure its all compatible, and install it on the roof :D
