I was born the inconvenient child of a tryst. My mother had a title but little money. My father had an obscene amount of money, and an even more obscene lack of morals.
At my first opportunity, I left that all behind, and struck off on my own. I was penniless, and had an outsized classical education that ill-prepared me for real life.
