@emd @mattblaze Ugh, that will add to the mess. I imagine they might have a period in which they are lax with enforcement while the word gets out. When the US suddenly demanded that Canadians needed passports because they were blaming us for 9/11, there were a few months in which they gave people a hard time (because US border guys are arrogant asses), but then would magnanimously let folk through, even though that was what they were supposed to do.

@CStamp @emd I think the likely scenario is that the airline will send your info to the UK when you check in, and if you don't have an ETA, they'll tell them to deny boarding until you get one. And if you can't apply and get it approved then and there, you're probably screwed.
