I was pretty sure this was going to end in tears, but holy crap -- the prototype works amazingly well.
Behold: The Synthcaster, a purely digital guitar without traditional pickups. It has a built-in Boss GK-5, controlling a Boss GM-800 synth over a (proprietary) serial connection.
The build is based on an old 89 Squire II Strat, my teenage axe and one of *the* shittiest guitars Fender ever made. Mine was in bad shape, this was a chance for a new life! I recorded a short show and tell.
