I was walking up the Cub Lake Trail early one morning and was surprised by this bull elk coming down the trail. I managed to get this shot before getting out of his way. One of my favorites in over 30 years of photographing in the park.

An elk cow wary of a voyeur (me) in Hollowell Park in

Ever since I first heard the word explained—many years ago—I have recognized it at moments like when this happened. It is called, in English, taking darshan.
I feel it a lot while out photographing. Maybe I should try looking for it more often.
