@gsuberland wow. That’s kinda amazing. They make automatic chlorination systems and some people have hooked them up to automation. I have never heard of anyone who built it from first principles!
@paco back when electricity prices weren't cuckoo bananas we were planning on upgrading our inflatable to a proper one, and I had a bunch of plans for instrumenting it like this, but cranked up to 11. industrial noncontact temperature sensor (I got one as an evaluation unit) for the water, insulated cavity temperature and humidity, outdoor temperature and humidity, water conductivity, pH, ORP, heater and pump power consumption (separate measurements so I could detect filter clogging)

Today I got a message from some small company that helps people rent apartments. They write 'Your email address flagged up in our system, can you supply another email address please?'. I wrote back using my made-up email address as a From address. No. I don't have another email address to give you.
They tried again. "Your email address flagged up in our system." It's hilarious because that's just technobabble. "Flagged up" means nothing at all. There's nothing wrong with my email address. I know WAY more about email than they do. So I wrote back "this email address obviously works because we're having a back and forth conversation using it. Please make no changes."
@JessTheUnstill reminds me of the old joke where someone orders a large pizza and the restaurant asks “would you like that cut into 8 or 10 slices?” The person replies “better make it 8, I don’t think I could eat 10.”

Here’s a fun use for #HomeAssistant.
When HA detects that the hot tub is over 100°F for a couple minutes, it alerts.
I’m using this ecowitt weather gateway with a remote, wireless temperature sensor.

Here's the feature in Apple Mail that lets you select your From address. And I have special cased my ID in Postfix so that if I login with MY ID, I can send emails from an address other than my logged in address
