New server, new !

I'm an engineering professor, the author of HOW INFRASTRUCTURE WORKS, and a connector of things, people and ideas, especially around design, education, systems, materials, and intersections thereof.

To paraphrase Ursula K. LeGuin, I don't fit well into a pigeonhole since my tentacles come out in all directions.

When I'm not at a keyboard, I might be in the boxing ring, on a climbing wall, or in a glassblowing studio.

My TED talk is now up! Thirteen minutes of me talking about matter, energy, networks, and people. About how and why our infrastructural systems work the way they do, and how and why to make them resilient, sustainable and equitable.

Thanks to the TED countdown crew for the invite, the expertise, and the platform to share these ideas.

@grimalkina As someone who’s basically three space robots in a trenchcoat who has to keep learning how to human better, I note that the ‘support in, dump out’ rule (that you provide only support to the person or people more affected than you by the situation, and only vent or otherwise seek support yourself from those *less* affected) covers this — like, you can vent to your own followers if you must.
