#Desertification is like the spreading of a disease. Archaeology studies confirm that most of the giant deserts we see today, including the Sahara, Gobi, Loess Plateau, the Middle East, ... started to form about 5000 years ago, after human invented iron and copper refinery to make tools. Excessive human activities such as deforestation, agricultural activities, and overgrazing have been the main causes of desertification (AND #climatechange). #Afghanistan did not turn into a #desert overnight.
