It needn't be full on, I think some kind of hybrid version is where the future lies, some in person, some online. But I don't have your experience to draw on.

The cartoonist (Wall Street?) had rather the same idea but wasn't allowed to publish it, I think. Glad I can express myself here. The cartoon is still floating about, I see it now and again.

The internet exists and could play a bigger role, cutting the cost of school infrastructure and maintenance drastically. Except it won't happen because warehousing children (so that parents can work) is currently a primary function of the schooling system.
Current educational arrangements are costly indeed, but the will to explore alternatives, or hybrid solutions is zero.
Stashing children away for 6-9 hours a day is far too advantageous to far too many people for any change.

Might just be what I call the brown envelope phase. People/companies forseeing they're going to need dollars to buy this or that during the next 5 years. The dollar went up last time too, right at the beginning.
