@robdaemon I'd be OK with medication 24/7 honestly. I do notice it hits a bit better with a break - and I can do a day or two without medication - and some kind of residual functioning whether by long tail medication effects or just better habits after being medicated gets me through weekends OK without.

@efi He lives with constant nose face ear and butt rubs. Also belly and toes when he allows :)

@AngryAnt yeah - a lifetime of habits workarounds and adaptations that took a LOT of energy to upkeep, and that I'm now 250 days out of practice in!

@huwr right on 2.0kg!

I thought he was just over 1, but he's filled out a fair bit in the last six months (which has been a bit of a whirlwind for other reasons)

@robdaemon THAT IS EXACTLY IT! i have had that little fragment of conversation SO MANY TIMES in my life. With mum and dad, my sisters, workmates, friends.

*really* eased off with regular medication too. I still have the tendency, the habit to do it, but often it's just enough to write a word as a reminder on a finger or my palm or something.

I went to immediately take medication after writing the above post elsewhere about 20 minutes ago.

I immediately meant I went to get meds and on the way to do so I 1. weighed a rabbit, 2. lost my coffee, and 3. ended up in the laundry about to do... something.

And it's hilarious because I don't actually depend on functioning at this end of the year.

But damn.

@NanoRaptor i am taking the meds only for 2 months, and read many stories like this which i can totaly confim.
But what struck me the most, is the effect on mood and anxiety.
I am so much calmer and happier, every single member of my family remarked on it after a few days.
You will have to pry those capsules from my cold dead hands, im not giving them up ever.

I do have to add that I'm very lucky with side effects though, basically none, except reduced appetite. Which im not complaining about.

It was only after a 15 minute convo on IRC about backups yesterday that I could stay focused enough to take 30 seconds to plug the drive back in.

And it seemed to me when I reconnected it that, sure I’d taken a few times to do it but backups had only been down maybe 3 days.

Nope. December 24 to jan 6. Almost two weeks.

HOW DID I EVER FUNCTION BEFORE?!

ADHD sporadic update 250+ days. I’ve been on Christmas leave since December 20 and pretty relaxed in taking adhd meds since.

Had warnings for my NAS’s backup failures and thought repeatedly I should go look why.

So I did. It’s because I unplugged backup drive while swapping monitors on retro desk.

Only then did I remember I'd diagnosed that as the reason *three times* since noticing failures. And wandered off distracted by something else before fixing it.

@siracusa OK perhaps it got a bit worse before it got better. then worse again. then I can't remember if it got better ever again, I drifted off a bit early on in the series.

@nygl I HAVE STILL NEVER SEEN A DUO IN THE FLESH!.

I like this idea. I have so many something-ish macs.

I’ve had a nice few low-pain days. It’s been grand to just fuck about online for a bit and be a proper dorkarse.

Stay tops nerds, you lot.

@NanoRaptor the pain may only be delayed. Now that the party is over and everyone has gone home, daylight will reveal the damage.

Adult gender reveals should be a thing and we pick our own colours and everything.

@NanoRaptor (are you getting tired of this yet?) sender reveal party, where we all pore over the SMTP headers of a phishing message until we figure out who really sent it.

@NanoRaptor I love it! All retro, but all close in age.

In the ‘90s, I had the privilege to work on a 20” Trinitron AppleVision display. But I mainly used BBEdit and Netscape, and my windows were clustered on the left side so that they could be tall and narrow. If only LCD portrait displays had existed back then!

Also: Is that a small color registration problem in the photo, or on purpose? It looks sort of like color halos in a scaled image on an LCD. But maybe it’s a red/green stereo effect?
