Yes, I've seen that mentioned before; which is an interesting way of rehabilitating prisoners, unless they're being used as expendable fire-fodder, of course

@ai6yr I shall use the hand scanner tomorrow. I scan the item and put it in the bag. I don’t have to unload the trolley to pay. My first computer system used thermionic valves but for me not having to keep moving stuff more than I have to is a bonus
