#Trump revokes a 1965 order banning discrimination in federal hiring. Trump on Wednesday revoked a 60-yr-old #ExecutiveOrder banning #discrimination in #hiring practices in the federal govt, his latest action aimed at gutting #diversity, #equity & #inclusion initiatives. His order, which the WH called “the most important federal #CivilRights measure in decades,” [said without irony] revokes ExecutiveOrder 11246 signed by President Lyndon B. In response to this post Trump signed an #ExecutiveOrder that will attempt to amend the #14thAmendment to revoke #BirthrightCitizenship. The president cannot change the #Constitution on his own, so it’s not yet clear how Trump plans to withhold the benefits of #citizenship to a group of people born in the #UnitedStates. The move is all but certain to be challenged in court.

Another is related to the government’s #refugee programs. 4 yrs ago, #Biden revoked one of #Trump’s 2017 orders to greatly increase the security vetting of refugees applying to resettle in the US. Trump signs an executive order designating cartel organizations as “foreign terrorist organizations.” Trump says Mexico will probably not be happy with the order. #TheCrueltyIsThePoint #immigration #law #HumanRights

In its first cuts, #ElonMusk’s *non-governmental* advisory group, the Department of Government Efficiency, or #DOGE, posted a screenshot on X of a deleted page for the Office of Personnel Management’s inter-agency council for chief #diversity officers. The council advised agencies on diversity, #equity & #inclusion programs. #Trump on Monday promised the end of #DEI practices in federal government & said hiring would be based on merit (sure, Jan). “It begins,” Musk posted.
