Party bans are legal in Germany but difficult. This mechanism exists in the constitution as a last resort to stop Germany to rise again.

A ban can be requested by a majority of Bundestag, Bundesrat (basically the parliament), or the government. Then it goes to The Federal Constitutional Court which has the final say.
