Fog In the Solano Hills

Every summer in the morning hours the heat from the inland valley of California pulls the cool moist air from the San Francisco Bay over the hills of Solano County. As the morning progresses and the valley heats up the fog burns off leaving a clear blue sky.
This was the view I had as I drove down interstate 680 on my way to work. Nice golden hills blanketed in fog.

Rocky Mountain National Park

I had one chance to get up in the mountains on a visit to Colorado some time back. Despite the nice sunny look, at 14,000 ft it was rather cold that day at the summit.
The purple hue mountain peaks sit above the tree line in this panoramic image. The trees grow taller the farther down the mountain you go.

Wild Mustard

Wild Mustard grows all over Northern California. It's living all year round but the blooms only open when there is plenty of rain. Out here that usually means springtime.
Many of the vineyards let the mustard grow between the grape vines adding a little spice to the soil. When you travel through the Napa Valley Wine Country in the springtime the valley is filled with the tiny yellow flowers.

Mirror Lake Boulder
This boulder sits in Mirror Lake underneath the towering walls of Half Dome in Yosemite Valley. The lake is slowly becoming a meadow as the sediment from the surrounding mountains flows down and fills the lake,
This boulder caught my eye in late winter with the nice clean reflection and the deep green water. The snow is seen on the lakeshore and hanging from the branches of the trees.

Redwood Dream

I captured this image one early morning in Muir Woods. These trees have always amazed me with their height, beauty, and the resiliency to the environment around them.
There is a special mysticism that can be felt as you walk around these trees and feel the soft bark of these giants.
