@iximeow @tef and, like, I know what a TAS is, and how it works. I just don't know what the specific category for this game is about, or what the rules are, which is pretty specific knowledge (and two phrases from a video that went viral on 4chan and tumblr eight years ago isn't really what I'd call "mainstream" knowledge, or a particularly good explanation of what the category is about)

it's a balancing act, gdq doesn't stop to explain what a backwards long jump is each and every time—in this instance, the first level shown was a 0 a-press level, and they only started explaining what 0.5a presses was when it came up in the level, which isn't the best
but there isn't a lot of time to front load explanations, and there's often something else going on too
and again, it isn't "went viral once" / "one video"
@tef @iximeow it took them until 8 minutes and 30 seconds into the run (plus pre run intro time) to say the phrase "no A presses".
it would have been a three sentence explanation at the start. they just didn't explain at all.
