@paul_ipv6 @mattblaze @ai6yr IAD suffers from a number of problems, one being it is usually noticeably more expensive than DCA or BWI. I’m not the best to compare, I live so close to IAD it is a piece of cake to get there. But, despite 10y in the FAA and (almost) making Platinum Status with a well known airline back in the day, I generally loathe flying now. I generally wish Amtrak was faster and a bit more flexible with schedules. (1/2)

In response to this postMaybe someday. DCA is a mess due to prohibited airspace and noise abatement and just being 10 pounds of airport in a 5 pound box. And I think I’m only scratching the surface. (2/2)

from the pilot i talked to, restricted air space and speed/noise were the issues.
i've flown over 1 million miles and i can't tell you how much i prefer trains/cars to any airport anywhere.
