so, I have a class I go to in the community, one night a week
and we share a meal there, and study together, and catch up on what's happening in our lives, and it's all ages and a really good experience
and one of the things I do is I bring the party forks
which are a bunch of thrift store eating utensils that I put out, in a big jar, so people have an alternative to plastic
I bring a big tub with a lid for the dirty ones to go in, and I take them home and wash them

I don't want to moralize at anyone, or tell them they have to quit using single-use plastics (I am not perfect about that myself) but I think one thing I can do, in my community, is model this way of being lighter on the land
the dozen or so plastic forks I kept from use tonight will not save the world
but they will also not appear, in fragments, on our beach
fifty forks a month is something
all these little butterfly wings, beating
@sarae When I was regularly taking lunch into work, I used a stainless thrift store fork. I still have that thrift store fork. I did not use about 600 plastic forks during that time. If you lose a thrift store fork (which you paid 25 cents for), big deal! I cringe when people give out plastic silverware.
