My uncle spent a bitterly cold winter in France and Germany in 1944-45, trying his best to rid the world of Nazis.
Yes, he survived the Battle of the Bulge. My wife's uncle did not.

@dougfir @ai6yr Obviously sorry for your wife’s uncle. Curious what units they served with, I know a little about the Bulge but always willing to learn more.

Aside from being in Patton's army, I don't know units.
My uncle was a machine gunner because of his poor eyesight.
My wife's uncle was an ambulance driver and died in a non-combat vehicle accident. His parents were notified of his death on VE day.
