In response to this post@alshafei @anildash @pluralistic RSS is the true triumph here. It's one of those standards that is old and widespread enough to have been incorporated into the background texture of the internet.
It's a pity federated XMPP was deliberately destroyed by every major player. There was a brief golden era there in the mid-00s where it seemed like a better future was possible; then the walls went up.
