@mark_melbin @MarkDeasy @fixatedpersonsunit The Greens have stood firmly against the genocide from the beginning. It’s not virtual signalling at all.
Also, Israel doesn’t care what any country thinks, but that’s not a reason to stand by and do nothing while a genocide takes place.

@skatercat @MarkDeasy @fixatedpersonsunit “do nothing”
Fact check: False
Greens disinformation
@mark_melbin
Would be curious to know where you get your information. We are talking about Australia going against majority world opinion at the UN, and abstaining on votes (until very recently) calling for a ceasefire. Supporting a regime the leaders of which are subject to arrest warrants by the ICC, and is plausibly committing genocide. Australian complicity is as appalling as it is inexplicable.
'Yes' Australia is effectively 'doing nothing' compared to what it should be doing. Including but not limited to ending the two-way arms trade, recalling our Ambassador, increasing our support for the humanitarian response generally and UNRWA in particular, and ESPECIALLY preventing young, Australian coreligionists from going to the Middle East to participate in war crimes. Mohamed from Lakemba cannot go and fight for ISIL. So why should Joshua from Bondi be permitted to go and fight for JSIL?
Rather than freely letting these potential war criminals come and go, responsible nations are arresting them, prompting travel advice in the Israeli media on how to manage the risk of arrest while abroad. It is sobering stuff, and not remotely Greens initiated political spin, but real world countries taking human rights seriously. Unlike Australia.
