If you read Peter Pomerantsev in the Observer today, you'll find some support for the position set out over the last couple of days in response to an earlier post; that the Fediverse is a viable competing space for social media where the problems of the Musk/Zuckerberg controlled social media could be countered by example & practice.... this is also the strategy that Pomerantsev is promoting.

No mention of Mastodon but we can infer this is what he means!

If one starts looking, it's not difficult to spot the rise of a class of social media elites on Mastodon who exhibit evil behavior to silence and blacklist people forever on a whim despite awareness of broken feature
