I can't help but think the middle classes will slowly morph into the old sitcom Bread.
Forever struggling to pay off mortgages, helping support kids so no option to downsize or move, everyone will just need to chip in to a family pot.
It could be argued many families have always had to do this (and indeed it's culturally common in families of Indian descent) but I can see it being much wider spread.

Yes, that's a good point about different communities' mores about extended families sharing houses.... but it *does* seem to be becoming a more general trend
@ChrisMayLA6 @Tattooed_Mummy I think covid has also changed attitudes of (current) teenagers into being less motivated to move far from the family. I couldn't wait to get away from home, but many friends and colleagues say theirs are only looking at the local uni, and not for financial reasons.
