feeling like a genius for realizing that hiding the "advanced mode" elements of this page when advanced mode isn't enabled is as simple as putting a css rule that says

body:not(:has(#advanced:checked)) .advanced {
display: none;
}

before i was looping over all the elements with the "advanced" class with an event listener on the checkbox


@monorail Oh oh yes, it's so amazing when CSS makes something _easy_. I'm so not used to it that I never think of it first.
