The brand new instrument PLATO Spec has seen first light and is ready for hunting exoplanets! 🪐 It will find stars hosting exoplanets by detecting changes in the star’s light, as it wobbles due to the planet’s gravitational pull.

PLATO Spec is mounted on the ESO 1.52 m telescope at La Silla Observatory in . The telescope was retired 20 years ago, but it was recently refurbished by a team led by the Czech Academy of Sciences, bringing new life to this veteran machine. 🔭
